Australian Law Awards 2017 Finalist

Madison Marcus Law Firm named a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards.

The 17th Australian Law Awards presented by Lawyers Weekly represents the largest and one of the most competitive award nights in the Australian legal profession. This year Madison Marcus have been named a finalist in 4 categories:

Banking and Finance Team of the Year – Madison Marcus Law Firm
Dealmaker of the Year – Ramy Qutami
Managing Partner of the Year – Bechara Shamieh
Boutique Law Firm of the Year – Madison Marcus Law Firm

This highly respected and esteemed event recognises excellence in the law, from the profession’s most senior ranks to its rising stars. The awards celebrates trailblazers in legal business that have challenged traditional models and discovered better ways to practise law.

For the second year running, Bechara Shamieh, Group Managing Director at Madison Marcus has been named a finalist in the category of Managing Partner of the Year. This category recognises superior law firm performance and managing partners who lead a thriving business and engaged workforce. Bechara oversees the property and commercial divisions at Madison Marcus and advises a diverse range of corporate and institutional clients on significant property and commercial related transactions. Bechara said “It is an honour to be nominated for this award. My leadership is inspired by the committed and hardworking employees we have at Madison Marcus and my passion for delivering exceptional outcomes for the firm’s clients.”

Ramy Qutami, Director at Madison Marcus Law Firm has been named a finalist in the category of Dealmaker of the Year. This award recognises outstanding performance by an individual who has acted on major transactions over FY16-17.  Ramy is renowned for his ability and expertise for working and leading his teams on large and complex commercial and property transactions that are of great significance for both his clients and the firm itself. Ramy commented that “each transaction has been ground-breaking for the client, providing growth, increasing their share of market and enhancing their reputation in the industry”.

Each deal I worked on throughout FY16-17 presented a unique set of challenges that had to be overcome to produce a successful commercial outcome for the client. This would not have been possible without the hard work and the dedication the team at Madison Marcus has for the firm and its clients.” Ramy further commented.

This year the firm’s Banking & Finance team have also made the finalist list. Congratulations to Partner and Head of Banking & Finance at Madison Marcus, Christopher Aylward and his team. Chris commented that “it’s an honour to be recognised by the profession. In 2017 the Banking & Finance team at Madison Marcus have worked on complex and ground breaking matters for the firm’s clients and this recognition is a testament to the teams dedication and excellence.”

Finally, Madison Marcus have been nominated as a finalist in the category of Boutique Law Firm of the Year. Also in 2017, Madison Marcus were named a finalist in the Australasian Law Awards for Law Firm of the Year (up to 100 Lawyers). The firm was also recently recognised by Global Law Experts as Australia’s Property Law Firm of the Year.

The winners will be announced at the Australian Law Awards ceremony on Friday 1 September 2017. Congratulations and best of luck to all the finalists!
