What a great event the City2Surf was on Sunday 9 August 2015!
This year, Madison Marcus entered a team into the City2Surf to participate with the other 80,000 runners and walkers in the annual charity event of completing the 14 kilometre journey from the City to the surf at Bondi Beach. We are proud to say that we were part of another record-breaking crowd.
With the sun glistening down on us at 8.30am, we kept up the wonderful tradition of throwing our old clothes into Hyde Park for the local charities to gather and provide to those in need.
After a quick team photo and our team talk, we commenced our 14 kilometre journey to Bondi Beach, making sure we stopped for ice-cream, jellies and photos with superheros along the way. We enjoyed the several beautiful sights of Sydney from varying viewpoints the walk had to offer. The view of the Harbour Bridge and the City from the East is such a spectacular sight that makes Heartbreak Hill so rewarding. In the Madison Marcus Team, Kaylan probably had the best view, as he had the privilege of sitting on his dad’s shoulders for most of the journey.
As we neared the finish line, almost three hours later, the atmosphere at Bondi Beach was thrilling and the support from both by-standers and other participants was very encouraging.
Until next year, we will enjoy looking at the photos of yet another successful year for the Madison Marcus City 2 Surf Team, raising over $3,500 for the Cancer Council.
